- Bit Depth -- the amount of binary digits used to measure the amplitude of a waveform (go there).

- DirectSound -- A standard for soundcard drivers developed by Microsoft. DirectSound is an MS Windows only standard.
- DirectX Plug-in -- A Plug-in conforming to Twelve Tone systems DirectX Plugin standard.
- DX Plug-in -- See DirectX Plug-in.

- Plug-in -- an application designed to run inside a host application, usually to add extra functionality to the host (go there).

- Resolution -- the level of detail with which a waveform is recorded. See Bit Depth and Sample Frequency.
S
- Sample -- a digitised version of an audio waveform (go there).
- Sample Frequency -- how many times in a second the amplitude of a waveform is recorded (go there).
V
- VST -- Virtual Studio Technology, a term used by Steinberg to describe the concept of a studio contained inside of a PC. It also refers to a specification for the VST Plug-in standard.
- VST Plugin -- A Plug-in conforming to Steinberg's VST specification.
